 Alternate Calibers

"When the resolution of enslaving America was formed in Great Britain, the British Parliament was advised by an artful man, who was governor of Pennsylvania, to disarm the people; that it was the best and most effectual way to enslave them; but that they should not do it openly, but weaken them, and let them sink gradually,
--George Mason
.50 Beowulf

Anyone who is familiar with the AR platform knows how good they really can be but they also know the standard 5.56 round has its' limits. At Bulldog Ordnance we understand how important it is to have the right tool for the job. That's one of the reasons we specialise in Alternate caliber AR platforms. One of our favourites is the Alexander Arms .50 Beowulf. The Beowulf is, to quote Bill Alexander, a "wrecking machine" of  a round. The Standard magazines for the Beowulf are 7 and 10 rounds. Emptying a 10 round magazine sends roughly a 1/2 pound of lead downrange. Basically speaking, Whatever is on the receiving end of the Beowulf is in a WHOLE LOT OF TROUBLE. Having several options of bullet weights and compositions, the Beowulf is an extremely versatile round easily adapted to different situations as needed. This round will perform well whether its big game hunting or holding a barricade in some dangerous corner of the world where the ability to quickly disable a vehicle borne threat is required. The accepted effective range of the Beowulf is 200-250 meters and recoil is similar to a 20 ga. shotgun. Within its' effective range, it is VERY ACCURATE. We have had no trouble getting smaller than 1 inch groups @ 100 meters in our testing. The tests were performed with an unaltered Alexander Arms upper,  Alexander arms factory loaded ammunition and iron sights. On a side note,  ALWAYS use the factory magazines or GI Mags (metal not composite) properly modified to work correctly with the large Beowulf round. Beowulf has also been featured on an episode of Future Weapons, (Youtube Video posted below) They did a fantastic job of demonstrating this beast of a weapon.

300 Blackout
As Previously stated, the 5.56 round is very accurate and a very good "varmint" round or in the case of the military, anti-personnel round. However its'  short comings lie in the small size of the round. The 300 Blackout has become a very popular resolution to that dilemma.  For years there have been variations of ARs chambered in 7.62x39. The inherent problem with that is that the same demon seemed to plague just about everyone with a few exceptions and that was the unreliable nature of the feeding. One answer that was developed is the 300 Blackout. The Blackout was developed by AAC in cooperation with Remington Defense. It's a .308 bullet in a shortened and re-necked 5.56 casing. What you end up with is a 7.62x35 round that uses, obviously a different barrel BUT the same 5.56 AR bolt and magazine as a standard M-4 with power that is very similar to the AK-47s 7.62x39 and a Deceptively Light recoil. Couple that with an effective range of 500 meters+... Problem solved! The Blackout performs exceptionally well in supersonic, subsonic and suppressed usage. As you can see from the photos below, the .308 bullet dwarfs the 5.56 NATO/.223 Remington round.

6.5 GRENDEL

The 6.5 Grendel is an intermediate round and was developed by Bill Alexander et al. to be a long range, light recoil round that could fill the gap between the 5.56 and 7.62x51. The 6.5 Grendel is a flat (relative to other rounds) shooting, hard hitting round that remains supersonic longer and retains greater terminal ballistics than either the 5.56 NATO or 7.62 NATO for longer distances. Effective range is roughly 1000 meters. Originally designed as a hunting round, its versatility as a military round quickly became evident. As a hunting round the Grendel is very suitable for most game hunting within the U.S.
